The following is a breakout of the “Certified Freight Car Inspector” course for Carmen apprentices.

OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course trainees will be certified under AAR and Transport Canada regulations and have the skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently perform rail car inspections looking for:

• Car body defects
• Brake system component defects
• Truck component defects
• Wheel defects
• Proper open top loading procedures

DURATION: The course is of a 5 day duration, 4 days classroom –1 days on job

CLASS SIZE: 1 – 4 trainees

EQUIPMENT: We will require the following equipment for the field portion:

• Rail cars
